‘O Say Can You Sea’ at Ouzo Bay

It was the 200th year anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner recently and Baltimore really celebrated in style with gorgeous fireworks–as Lana Del Rey would say, “Red, white, blue’s in the sky.” On top of that, it was my roommate Lauren’s 21st birthday so delicious celebrations were in order of course. Our restaurant of choice, Ouzo Bay, boasts everything we love about authentic Greek cuisine: delicious seafood fare with a lovely selection of wines and possibly the best bread basket we’ve had in a while.

We started with their highly recommended Spanakopita, a Greek spinach, leeks, and feta baked pie, that was savory and delicious. With our glasses of Crete white, we also ordered freshly grilled octopus with red wine caper vinaigrette–a classic Mediterranean combination one should not miss. And for our mains, given that Ouzo Bay’s seafood flown in from all over the world, Lauren and I treated ourselves to their Langoustines and Bronzino with a side of grilled vegetables. I enjoyed every part of dinner, but especially, the Bronzino was a phenomenal choice!

This dinner was a reminder of every single reason why I love Greek food so much; delicious, light, and fresh, I was always satisfied with each bite of food and the citrus tones of our Greek wine only added to the lovely experience. Ouzo Bay might not be Crete, but it’s a delicious place not to be missed, especially if you want to a enjoy glasses of wines outdoors with to-die-for grilled octopus. I think it was only missing the picturesque views of Chania’s Venetian Port.

Lastly, happy Birthday Lauren! Hope you’re one year older, one year more fabulous, and that much closer to achieving all your dreams of being a world traveller.

love,
eatprayjade x.
